The progressive writers in Kerala under the initiative of stalwarts like P Kesavadev, Thakazhy Sivasankara Pillai, M P Paul and Karur Neelakanta Pillai formed the Sahitya Pravarthaka Co-operative Society (SPCS) way back in 1945. SPCS is in real terms an organization “Of the Writers, By the Writers and For the Writers”, Almost all the prominent writers of Kerala are members of the Society. SPCS has been an aspiring model for writers across the world.

Today, this great community backed by the legend M.T. Vasudevan Nair (festival director) embarks on a new journey that aims at creating a cultural exchange among literary lovers. SPCS is entrusted with the organising of the event based on the Government’s realisation that it requires the platform and network of a publishing house for the successful organising of an event of this magnitude.

For SPCS, this is a new journey and a historical responsibility as well!
